2 DE MAIO
Soccer Court Street Art
This soccer court is located in the 2 de Maio neighbourhood in Lisbon. The neighbourhood gets its name because on May 2nd of 1974, right after the peaceful revolution that overthrew the authoritarian regime, hundreds of people took over the unfinished buildings and occupied them for the years to come.
Inspired by the local architecture, the Tagus River and the open sky that can be seen so well from the court, I created this orthogonal typographic composition in shades of blue.
This pitch was the largest project I have ever done, and I am thrilled with the final result. I hope this space can be the stage for many games and good moments!
My biggest thanks to Ana Martins, Ana Nunes da Cruz, Frederico Pauleta [Mozão], Gonçalo Henriques e Martim Diniz for helping out and getting their hands dirty!
Promotors: Hoopers, Junta de Freguesia da Ajuda
Partners: Galeria de Arte Urbana, Jopinto, Sportdesign.lda
Photo & Video: Álvaro Figueiredo, Malagueta, ShotbyGregz
Resin Paint on concrete floor • 18x35mt • Lisboa, Portugal • NOV — 2021
Final shots
Work In Pogress
I was recovering from a broken foot at the time. Thankfully it was a floor painting, meaning that I could just roll around the soccer court in my wheel chair!
